Decisions of the Board of Protection of Personal Data Have Been Published 29 January 2018

First decisions of the Board of Protection of Personal Data (“the Board”) taken by exercising its power that is envisaged in Article 15/6 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data numbered 6698 (“the Law”) which is “taking principle decisions in case of a common violation of the Law”, have been published in the Official Gazette dated 25.01.2018 and numbered 30312.

According to the decision of the Board dated 21.12.2017 and numbered 2017/62; some institutions have been imposed on obligation to take necessary technical and administrative measures in accordance with Article 12 of the Law in order to prevent possible access to personal data of people who get service in the places such as counter, booth or desk by other people who also get service in the same place. Sanctions of failing to abide by the decisions of the Board are regulated under Article 18/c of the Law and the same is paying administrative fine ranging between 25.000 Turkish Liras and 1.000.000 Turkish Liras. Therefore; following the resolutions of the Board has a significant importance.
