“Birecik Dam and HEPP”, which is the Largest Hydroelectric Power Plant Project Built Under “BOT” Model in Turkey, is Transferred to Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. with the Legal Assistance of Kasaroğlu Law Office 13 October 2016

As Kasaroğlu Law Office; we are proud to announce that we accomplished another successful transaction among many other success stories of our law firm. Our team achieved the successful transfer of the Birecik Dam and HEPP, which is the largest hydroelectric power plant project built under “Build-Operate-Transfer” model in Turkey, to Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. on 3^rd of October 2016 upon the expiry of its Operation Period.

Birecik Dam and HEPP was constructed by Birecik Baraj ve Hidroelektrik Santralı Tesis ve İşletme A.Ş., to which we have been providing legal services for many long years, by Built–Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. Birecik Dam and HEPP was constructed within the scope of the Law No. 3096 and has been known as the biggest hydroelectric power plant of Turkey which was established by Built–Operate-Transfer model. The Birecik HEPP, which was costed 2.066.220.000 DM and has an installed capacity of 672 MW, is the fourth biggest hydroelectric dam of Turkey in operation after Atatürk, Karakaya and Keban Dams with an electric energy production capacity of 2,5 TWh (billion kWh) per year.

Hikmet Kasaroğlu, who is the managing partner of our law firm, personally pursued the establishment of Birecik Baraj ve Hidroelektrik Santralı Tesis ve İşletme Anonim Şirketi and also made great contributions to the legal process with respect to the realization of the project.

Birecik Dam and HEPP was successfully operated until the expiry of its Operation Period and, with the legal assistance of our office, it was also successfully transferred to Elektrik Üretim A.Ş as of October 3^rd, 2016 by achieving a phenomenal success.
