Administrative Fine has been given to the Data Controller Bank by the Board of Protection of Personal Data 28 February 2018
Upon the complaint made to the Board, the Board decided to implement administrative fine in an amount of 30.000 TL to the data controller Bank since whole credit card extract of 6 months of the data subject has been sent to the Court by the Bank instead of a mere information which has been requested by the Court within the scope of a pending case whether a refund made to the respective person.
The decision, which has been given on the ground of infringement the responsibility to provide data safety, once again shows that the breaches are being punished by the Board upon complaints although the adaptation period to the Law on the Protection of Personal Data continues. Within this context, the amount of the given administrative fines by the Board in the year of 2017 is 125.000 TL in total.
Such decision shows that the fine amounts will increase as well as the importance of the adaptation of their operations to the Law for institutions and following the legislation which is being updated constantly.
