“The General Communiqué on Electronic Notification System” Has Been Published 25 January 2018
“The General Communiqué on Electronic Notification System”, which was enacted by Ministry of Customs and Trade, has been published in the Official Gazette dated 25.01.2018 and numbered 30312. With this Communiqué, the procedures and principles regarding the notification of the documents issued by the Ministry of Customs and Trade and Consumer Arbitration Committees required to be sent in electronic environment according to the provisions of the Notification Law numbered 7201 have been regulated.

Personal Data Protection Guide Has Been Prepared 22 January 2018
Under the Article 12 of the Law 6698 on Protection of Personal Data (“Law No. 6698”), data controllers are obliged to take all necessary measures in order to prevent unlawful processing of personal data and unlawful access to personal data as well as to ensure the retention of personal data. However, no further explanation is made by the Law regarding what is the content of these measures. In order to fill this gap and provide guidance to data controllers, Personal Data Protection Guide “the Guide” which has been prepared by Personal Data Protection Authority (“the Authority”) has been published in the website of the Authority.

Payment Liability of Banks due to Dishonored Cheque has been Increased 19 January 2018
With the Communique Amending the Communique on Publication Form of Cheque Books and Determination of the Amount Which the Banks are Liable to Pay to Holder (No:2010/2) (“the Communique”) published in the Official Gazette dated 19.01.2018 and numbered 30306; the amount, which the drawee bank is liable to pay in case of a dishonored cheque, has been increased to 1.600,00-TL(one thousand and six hundred Turkish Liras) from 1.410,00-TL (one thousand four hundred and ten Turkish Liras). ISTAC Arbitration Becomes an Alternative for Public Procurement Agreement Disputes 9 January 2018
The contracts annexed to the Implementation of Public Procurement Regulations has been amended by the Regulations published in the Duplicated Issue of the Official Gazette dated 30.12.2017 and numbered 30286. With this amendment; regulations have been made to resolve the disputes arising from the public procurement contracts, which will be signed as from the date of 19.01.2018, in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of Istanbul Arbitration Center (“ISTAC”).

We Assert Detrimental Acts Against Animals to be Criminalized 2 January 2018
As a law office which values animals and advocates for animal rights; we believe that all living creatures sharing the same planet should be protected. For this reason; we assert that all detrimental acts against animals should be excluded from Misdemeanor Law and they all should be regulated as separate crimes under Turkish Criminal Code. We hereby invite everyone, who values animals and believes that the animals should be credited with a protection that they deserve as living creatures to support this campaign.

“Regulation on Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Emblem” Has Come Into Force 29 December 2017
“The Regulation on Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Emblem” has been published in the Official Gazette dated 29.12.2017 and numbered 30285. With this regulation, the emblem to be used in geographical indication and traditional product names have been determined and it was regulated that the provisions of the Industrial Property Law numbered 6769 could not be applied in cases where it was used without the emblem determined in said Regulation.

The Amount of Administrative Fines Imposed According to the Electricity Market Law Has Been Determined 29 December 2017
"The Communiqué on Administrative Fines to be Given on 2018 According to Article 16 of Electricity Market Law numbered 6446" has been published in the Official Gazette dated 21.12.2017 and numbered 30277 and after that a new article have been added with another Communiqué published in the Official Gazette dated 29.12.2017 and numbered 30285. With this Communiqué, the amount of administrative fines which are imposed within the scope of Article 16 of Law numbered 6446 has been determined for the year of 2018.
